We are often asked by God's people how they might take a more active part in the work of Living in Christ Ministries. Such a desire in the hearts of other believers is a great blessing to us at LICM. The answers to such inquiries are related to the very nature of the church of Jesus Christ and to the way in which the Lord's work is to be conducted. The nature of the church involves us being the body of Christ. All true Christians are members of a living spiritual organism that shares together in the life of Christ. The work of the church is then carried out as we function together in reaching out to touch others by that life, according to the will of Christ, our head. (See Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:16; and 1 Corinthians 12.) Some of the specific, practical ways that such spiritual partnership can be entered into would be:
Praying
Prayer is definitely our most basic need at LICM. Furthermore, prayer is the primary way in which others can have the deepest impact in the ministry that God has given to us at LICM. All of the spiritual priorities that are revealed in the scriptures are the matters that could develop your prayer list for us. Such praying could be summarized in and guided by some of the classic prayers and prayer requests given in the word of God. These would include: Romans 15:30; Ephesians 1:15-21 and 3:14-21 and 6:18-19; Philippians 1:9-11; Colossians 1:9-12 and 4:2-4; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 and 3:1-2; Hebrews 13:20-21. In addition to these on-going issues from the word, we produce a Quarterly Newsletter. This Newsletter, which is available upon request, includes a "Prayer and Praise" letter, which lists our ministry itinerary, praise reports, and specific prayer needs.
Writing
Many types of letters are written to us at LICM. They include letters of encouragement and testimony and suggestion and confirmation and insight and prayer requests and more. Although we are not always able to answer each letter with a personal response (due to growing opportunities and responsibilities), every letter is read and prayed about and appreciated. The Lord uses them in significant ways in the ministry here at LICM. Excerpts from some are anonymously quoted in our quarterly Newsletter, so that their blessing and fruit may be multiplied into thousands of homes.
Sending Materials to Friends
The Lord may have you praying for friends or relatives or acquaintances who might benefit from some of the LICM teaching tapes or literature. Let us know, and we will gladly send along anything that you suggest, from tapes to our Quarterly Newsletters. Also, don't forget to pray that he Lord would use whatever is sent their way.
Giving
Here at LICM, we do not want to motivate people to give by compulsion (2 Corinthians 9:7). However, we do realize that opportunities for financial sharing in the work of the Lord are one of the arenas that God has ordained for His grace to operate (2 Corinthians 8:1, 6, 7 and 9:8, 14). God continues to open up many such opportunities at LICM. These include the providing of staff here at home, as well as the developing of bible study videos and other ministry materials for distribution. These opportunities for giving also include the sending of study tapes overseas and travel overseas to minister to national pastors and church leaders and hungry believers who have extremely limited material resources (2 Corinthians 8:13-14). If you are giving appropriately to your own church, and the Lord stirs your heart toward LICM, we will praise God for your participation with us. Even small regular gifts by many can be used of God to accomplish as much as large periodic gifts by a few.
Church Outreach Partnerships
Another strategic way to take part in LICM is by church outreach partnerships. A number of churches have designated Living in Christ Ministries as one of their missionary and outreach partners. This produces substantial spiritual blessing for LICM, since a group of believers are joining together in prayer and support. The Lord has also utilized this to bless and encourage congregations as they see the Lord using their prayers and gifts for His glory in the building up of the church at home and abroad.
Other Ways
Introducing people to our website could be used of the Lord. Undoubtedly, there are many other ways that God's people can take part in the ministry of LICM. If God has laid on your heart some avenue of partnership in service that we have not mentioned, please let us know about it. And in each and every and any way: "If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen." (1 Peter 4:11)
